Chocolate is a fond part of most of our lives, whether it was a sweet treat from a beloved family member as a child, a lunch time delight or an after-work indulgence, good chocolate has an impact. Most offices have at least one ‘chocoholic’ and a well-stocked workplace will have a few chocolatey snacks.

Brief history

Chocolate came to England in the 1650s as a luxury drink, it was expensive and therefore only the wealthy could afford it. By the 18^th century ‘chocolate houses’ had arrived, these were places to go and enjoy drinking chocolate. In the mid-19^th century chocolate was made into a solid bar in Bristol by Fry & Sons marking the first ‘chocolate bar’, however, it was not the milk chocolate we know and love today – that came later in 1875. Since Swiss manufacturer Daniel Peters invented the milk chocolate bar, we’ve seen the creation of hundreds of thousands of delicious chocolate products worldwide.
